The owner?s manual is a great source of instructions to do with your lawn mower when it got broken. Don?t hesitate to read them so you know exactly what to do. Upgrading a Greenhouse

I have been using a greenhouse for about four years now. When I first started out with my greenhouse I thought that the 5×5 would be more spacious than what I could ever need. I was completely wrong. I have since upgraded to the 6×8 greenhouse and I think that I may need to upgrade again. These greenhouses are absolutely stellar. With the two that I have had, I have not encountered any issues. They are easy to operate and they are great to have when the winter months arrive and you still want to be working with your plants. When I eventually upgrade to the next size of greenhouse there is no doubt that I will once again be purchasing through this company. They are great to work with and they are extremely helpful and love to answer any questions you might have. If you are looking to start a greenhouse, I would definitely start one with them.

Your Greenhouse Might Need Insulating

Most modern freestanding greenhouses of wood are constructed of either aluminium or wood. Of course they will have glass panels to make the greenhouse effect work.

There are a couple of things you can do to increase the efficiency of your greenhouse, particularly if you live in a cooler climate.

Firstly make sure you position it so it’s not shaded by trees or other buildings during the coolest part of the day. That’s the morning and late afternoons.Every hour of sunlight is important for a greenhouse, particularly when you are movie from a cool season or into a cool season, like Spring and autumn.

You should monitor the temperature inside your greenhouse on a daily basis and it just the airflow accordingly. You might consider insulating the coolest wall of the greenhouse to prevent heat loss from the inside.

Further, you might consider insulating the foundation of the greenhouse so it doesn’t conduct the killer temperatures from the adjoining outside soil. I have the foundations of my Gardman Walk In Greenhouse Insulated.

Buying Good Spider Mite Spray

I am absolutely petrified of bugs and when I learned of the many spider mites that had made their way into my basement, I immediately went online to see if there was any kind of spider mite spray to get rid of them. I wanted to make sure that I was getting a product that was going to eliminate the problem on the first try. As much as I hated to order something off of the internet and have to wait a couple of days for it to get delivered, I decided to do just that. I did it only because I found this Liquid Ladybug Spider Mite Spray. I read a good bit of information about it and it seemed to be the best product for the job. I thought that I was better off waiting the extra couple of days and getting rid of them on the first try instead of wasting money on lesser products.

Got Thatch Problems? Here’s How to Solve Them!

Thatch is the layer of both living and dead organic materials that build up at the base of your lawn in the surface of the soil. The layer consists of dead grass blades and roots, as well as lawn debris or clippings that have not been broken down. Thatch about ¼ inches in thickness is beneficial for our lawns. It protects the roots from stress brought by extreme heat, improves surface resiliency against heavy traffic, as well as prevents water loss. But sometimes, thatch can build up excessively. When this happens, water, air and nutrients can no longer adequately penetrate the soil and reach the roots. Your roots will literally starve. Thatch build-up is one of the common causes of unhealthy lawns.

Thankfully, there are several ways you can solve thatch problems. One way is dethatching. Dethatching is the traditional way of raking out unwanted thatch. This is accomplished by using a dethatching rake, which is made up of blades that cut into the soil and pull out the thatch. For larger areas, a power rake can be very useful. Power rakes have spinning keys that slam down into your lawn and force out lawn debris onto the surface. Another way to address the problem of thatch is lawn aeration. Aeration involves creating holes in the lawn by pushing hollow rods or cylinders, also known as “coring”, to extract plugs of soil. Aeration helps loosen compacted soil and remove thatch, allowing oxygen, organic fertilizers and water to soak better within the soil and reach the roots system. Aeration is done by using a manual or a power aerator. Power aerators have the double action of aerating and dethatching, which will save you a lot of time and effort.

Got thatch problems? Don’t worry. By dethatching and aerating, you can control the build-up of thatch and help your lawn grow to its full potential.

Condition Your Garden Soil for Healthy Plants

Many of us have spent the Easter Bank Holidays toiling in the garden to get it into some sort of shape for the summer. With the risk of frost gone, now is a good time to get some young bedding plants to put in those borders and decorative flower beds, and those growing fruit and vegetables will be encouraged by the early sunshine as a good indication for a fruitful summer ahead. However important it is to keep things watered during the dry spell, don’t neglect the condition of the soil! Winter and the proliferation of weeds your aching back attests to having removed will have taken its toll on the organic content of the soil and much of it will have been washed away or converted into plant protein by the weeds. Remember before planting to fork in a good amount of manure or compost to give your young plants the nutrients they need.

How the Humble Chinese Gooseberry Became World Renown

I guess nearly everybody has heard of and eaten a Chinese gooseberry haven’t they. What’s that you say? You’ve never heard of it. Well that is because this is more often known as the Kiwi fruit; see I told you that you have ate one.

So how did it lose its old name and become world renown and synonymous with a different country? Well this is all down to the New Zealand farming industry who needed a crop to export. After much research they found that the Chinese variety of the gooseberry was ideal. The problem was that they wanted the fruit to become associated t=with their country so that there would be less competition from other potential exporters. They then hit on the idea of naming the fruits after their beloved national bird and emblem the Kiwi. Nowadays everyones thinks these fruits are from that country. What a fantastic piece of marketing that was.

Outsourcing Butterfly Gardens

Let’s say that you have been doing a lot of reading on the subject of live butterfly gardens. You know all about the plants that have to be planted. You understand that there are limits to the number of species you are likely to attract. You have the space in which to do it. But you are hard-pressed for time. Is it okay to hire out – to literally have somebody else handle the work of actually creating the garden?

Well, yes and no. Of course it’s up to you how you approach the process. If you have the money and you can find somebody, nobody is going to stop you from asking them to build you a garden. If it’s your only option, then maybe you should consider it. After all, it’s not like it’s a crime.

But at the same time, you also take this under advisement. One of the true joys of butterfly gardens is the work that goes into them. It gives you a sense of ownership that you might otherwise not find. And that can greatly enhance your overall experience. So be careful before you hire out – the price might be more than just money. It might be your happiness.
